LotsaNotes ("we", "our", or "us") is a music sight-reading practice application. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

The data we collect depends on whether you use LotsaNotes as a guest or with a registered account.

Guest Mode (No Account)

When you use LotsaNotes without creating an account:

• No personal data is collected or stored on our servers
• Your practice settings (instrument, level, tempo) are stored only in your browser's local storage
• No practice sessions, progress, or statistics are saved
• When you close your browser or clear local storage, these preferences are lost

Guest mode allows you to practice freely with limited features (levels 1-5, basic time/key signatures) without any data being sent to our servers, except for anonymous analytics (see below).

Registered Account

When you create an account, we collect and store:

• Email address
• Name (optional)
• Password (stored securely using industry-standard hashing)

Practice Data (Registered Users Only)

When you practice while logged in, we collect:

• Practice session times and durations
• Difficulty levels and instrument selections
• Self-assessment ratings you provide
• Settings preferences (tempo, metronome usage, etc.)

This data is used to track your progress, provide statistics on your practice page, and enable features like streak tracking. This data is not collected for guest users.

Analytics Data (All Users)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how our service is used. Google Analytics collects:

• Pages visited and navigation patterns
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• Approximate geographic location (country/city level)
• Referring website
• Feature usage patterns

This information is anonymized and used to improve our service. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the LotsaNotes service
• Track your practice progress and statistics
• Send important account notifications (password resets, subscription updates)
